KIDNEY DISEASE
When you have kidney disease, your kidneys are no longer able to filter waste products and fluids from blood and waste of protein metabolism (urea) increases. Patients of renal failure should avoid food that worsens the problem.
To control kidney disease, it is essential to control blood pressure, weight and diabetes too. Most people need to limit sodium, protein and fluids. Restricting edible salt is not the only solution. Patient should also limit foods having high content of natural sodium. A nutritionist can help by making an eating plan that is right for you.
Use of cheese, eggs, pickles, mono- sodium- glutamate and leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek leaves should be avoided. Patient should take moderate amount of protein by choosing sprouts, cereals and split legumes. Avoid watery fruits and vegetables. Drink normal mineral water. Potassium and Phosphorus should be limited by reducing milk, cheese, colas, nuts, butter etc. Moreover if one is overweight, calories should be limited. Increased sugar damages kidney more, so, diabetes has to be in control.
