MENOPAUSE

Menopause is an inevitable process of every female. This stage normally starts from 45 to 50 years and finishes within few years. During menopause, hormones are disturbed and calcium absorption is decreased. This results in knee pain, back pain or osteoporosis in later years. Moreover, metabolic rate may decrease after 40 years. So, weight fain can be a problem too.

A diet with high calcium and protein will help in keeping bones in shape. To take care of weight, low fat dairy products are good options. Excess sugar is bad for bones; therefore sugar free can be used. Fiber-rich foods, like: rice flakes, oats, leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains and sprouted legumes are perfect items to nourish body during this stage. Those who are diabetic should be more cautious about calcium intake as they are prone to fragile bones. Hormone replacement therapy is given to manage menopausal problems, but vitamins and minerals are most effective in treating menopause.
